£30million star confirms transfer negotiations with Manchester United

Chelsea splashed around £30million to acquire the services of Willian from Anzhi back in the summer of 2013 and it has to be said that the Brazilian international has proven to be one of the best signings the Blues have made in recent times.
Willian has helped Chelsea win two Premier League titles since his arrival to the club and he is arguably one of the most important players in the Blues’ squad at the moment.

Nonetheless, rumors had emerged over the summer claiming that the 28-year-old could be set for a move away from Stamford Bridge and a reunion with former manager Jose Mourinho at Manchester United had been viewed as a possibility.

The speculated transfer has clearly not come into fruition but Willian has now gone on to confirm that he did indeed hold talks with United over a prospective transfer.

Willian said, “There were a few conversations with my agent. I worked with Mourinho and I became his friend as well. He likes me a lot and I like him a lot as a coach and as a person. He has put his trust in me and in my work, and I was very grateful to him.

“Manchester came to me, they talked with my agent, but nothing happened, because Chelsea would not negotiate me in any way and I’m very happy at Chelsea.”
