'Only Igbo presidency can stop Biafran agitation' – Ohaneze youths say

Pan-Igbo youth group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, OYC, says the only thing that can put a stop to the agitation for Biafra by the Igbos is for someone from the Igbo extraction to emerge President in 2019 with a Vice President from the North.
The group said this in a statement released after its executive meeting in Enugu state yesterday.
In the statement which was signed by its Secretary General, Okwu Nnabuike, the group said:
“it is Igbo president 2019 or Biafra 2020”. They alleged that the Igbos have been unjustly denied the seat of power for many years and that it is time they are allowed to become president or the calls for the Biafra nation will be actualized. The statement in part reads "It is sheer injustice and hatred, a situation where no Igbo has been allowed close to the seat of power for decades of years, whereas other geo-political zones have been taking turns either as military or civilian presidents. More annoying is the fact that the North, a major beneficiary in this direction has bluntly refused to heed the call for restructuring, which has been identified as the panacea to the many socio-political problems plaguing the nation. Besides, they have also not only continued to express disdain over the demand for Biafra by IPOB and MASSOB, but have also ordered Ndigbo out of the North based on these agitations. Remember that former President Obasanjo had urged Nigerians to beg Biafra agitators and only Nigeria president of Igbo extraction will appease Igbos or Biafra agitation will be inevitable. If there is any conspiracy against President of Igbo extraction, that will surely bring Biafra into existence. One now wonders why Ndigbo will continue to be treated in this manner. Two days ago, the acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo re-echoed the fact that Nigeria is in a marriage. He was quoted as saying that our nation has been in marriage for a while now. Sometimes, there are quarrels within that marriage. Sometimes there is disagreement. What is important is that you must remain together. You must remain united. It does appear from the above that Ndigbo have perpetually remained the sacrificial lamb to keep this forced marriage together. They have remained victims of an abusive marriage, often beaten, cheated by the husband. We have resolved today that this grave injustice cannot continue. It is Igbo presidency in 2019 with a Vice President from the North or nothing. We are not ready any longer to be treated with levity and disdain in this country and for that we are calling on all Igbo sons and daughters both at home and in the Diaspora to key into this project”.

An ex-convict has been nabbed for stealing car battery after leaving prison. Below is a report posted on Facebook by the victim, Femi:
"The name of this man is kazeem oseni ,he was once a panelbeater. He recently just returned from jail, ever since he returned several car batteries have been reported missing.unfortunately for kazeem when mine was stolen i raised an alarm ,unlike others who kept quite and replaced theirs for kazeem to come back and steal it again.
''kazeem Aka Alake was a prime suspect because he was found loitering around at an early hour of the day and because kazzem has previously been jailed for stealing a couple of years back it wasn't difficult to make him a prime suspect ,during a constructive interogation by myself with him all I had to do was play reverse physcology with him and he agreed to return my battery, just because he didnt want the case to excalate.we handed him over to the police for further interrogation on who he sells the other stolen batteries too,I was shocked when I realize kazeem sells a 28thousand naira battery for 2thousand naira not caring about the discomfort he would create for the car owners when they realize there battery is missing.
the essence of posting this video is to show does who there car battery was previously stolen how this crime was done .and to educate the general public on how unsafe there car is ,also to encourage the public that jungle justice is not the way out after a criminal is caught .And to also encourage every car owner to go to there panelbeaters and have the location of there bonnet cable changed just to avoid this crime occurance in the future , and for those saying this video would educate criminals on how to steal people's battery, well everyday for the thief one day for the owner.Alake was lucky he didnt get Jungle justice you might not be lucky . Everyone has a lesson to learn from this crime. The question is what have you learnt"

A TV news reporter was criticised today for joking with a boy made homeless by the Grenfell Tower fire that he wouldn't have to go to school.
Sky News correspondent Mark White was slammed on Twitter after making the joke during an interview with grandmother Ruks Manudu, who fled the burning building with her grandson.
Mr White spoke to Ms Manudu about how she woke at 1am to discover fire engines outside the building and woke her grandson to get out. But a comment Mr White made at the end of the
interview caused anger online after he asked the boy: 'So no school for you today? It has a plus side I guess.'
Mr White was reporting from a rescue shelter in west London where residents of the tower block who had escaped the inferno were being looked after.
One Twitter user wrote: 'How can the reporter on sky news say to that young boy "at least you don't have to go to school", no time for jokes??'
Another added: 'The newscaster on Sky News interviewing a Grandmother and her Grandson is an idiot.
"Bright side is no school for you!"'
Another tweeted: 'Idiot on Sky News interviewing evacuees and said to a kid "no school for you today I guess, eh?"'
But other users of the social network said Mr White may just have been trying to lift the boy's spirits and shouldn't be criticised too harshly.
