Los Blancos have often been linked with goalkeeper David de Gea over the past few years, despite Keylor Navas arguably proving his worth at Real between the sticks.
According to The Sun, Zidane has not given up hope of luring the Spaniard to Real in this transfer window, and will target the former Atletico Madrid man before it closes.
Real's interest in the player appeared to minimal at the beginning of the window, with Jose Mourinho insisting that the shot-stopper would not leave United.
De Gea was close to a move to the Santiago Bernabeu in Louis van Gaal's final season at Old Trafford, which would have seen Navas move the other way in a swap deal.
However, the paperwork for the deal could not be finalised in time for it to go through before the deadline, seeing both players stay at their respective clubs.
The Spanish international has come on in leaps and bounds at the Red Devils, winning seven trophies at the club since his arrival in 2011.
