Aubameyang shuns Chelsea, China move

Aubameyang has confirmed he has had offers to leave Borussia Dortmund this summer, but has decided to stay.

The striker, who scored in the German Supercup on Saturday, was linked with a move to China as well as AC Milan, Chelsea and Manchester City.

However, he had told German newspaper Welt am Sonntag that he was happy to stay at Dortmund.

“It is true that I spoke to Borussia Dortmund before I went on vacation,” he said. “I told them my thoughts, that I was maybe ready to try something different. It was open and fair talks with Michael Zorc [Dortmund director of football] and Hans-Joachin Watzke [Dortmund CEO].

“But none of the clubs that wanted me could make it happen. So I’ll stay here at Borussia Dortmund. I like staying here very much, as I feel at home in Dortmund.”

It was reported that Chinese Super League side Tianjin Quanjian made an offer for the 28-year-old Gabon international.

He said China was “an option”, and added: “It is normal that you think about it, if so much money is offered.

“I know that many people have said that you cannot go to China, because the football (there) is a step back. But I think that anybody would think about it when he gets such an offer.

“I had an offer, but I think the Chinese have been hard pressed to make an offer to Dortmund. I think that the structures are not yet as professional as in Europe.”
